A few new firsts

Bailey has recently experienced a few new firsts. We'll start with the first that we wish didn't happen.

On January 15th Bailey was admitted for her first hospital stay. She had been coughing a lot more and having trouble breathing so I took her to see her doctors at Children's Mercy. After running some tests they determined she had RSV Bronchiolitis and said she would need to stay at the hospital. It was supposed to be a 2-5 day visit but ended up lasting 18 days! Bailey was finally discharged on February 1st. Unfortunately we had to take oxygen home with us and she is still on it while she continues to get rid of the Bronchiolitis but she is doing much better now.

Something good did come of her hospital stay though. On January 29th Bailey got her first tooth! It was pretty funny the first few days after the tooth was through to watch her feeling around the bottom of her mouth with her tongue. She could tell something was different. And apparently she thought that having a tooth meant that she needed to start brushing it right away...

The most recent first is Bailey's first word. Aaron and I had argued back and forth about whether it would be "mama" or "dada" but alas, we were both wrong. It was "baba." Of course she doesn't have a clue was it means yet but she sure loves to say it!

It's a very fun and exciting time in Bailey's life right now filled with many new firsts, and we know there will be many more to come in the near future!

6 months already!

It's hard to believe that Bailey is already 6 months old. It's gone by so fast!

She is now rolling over and can sit up by herself!

She got a Disney Princess chair for Christmas and she loves it...almost as much as she loves the remote control. Every time we'd give her the remote though she would always hit random buttons and change the channel so we finally took the batteries out of an extra remote so she now has her own.

Bailey got a basketball goal for Christmas and she really likes playing with it. I think it's a sign of things to come.

She also likes to try and help me do laundry...

Every day with Bailey gets more and more fun and I can't wait to see what's in store for us in the next 6 months!

Bailey's First Christmas!

We started Christmas 2009 in Wichita with the Burns and Cunningham families. We then went to Garden City and spent the week with my family. We finished off our holiday weekend in Scott City at Aaron's sister Darlicia's house. We are very blessed that we were able to spend time with all of our families during this holiday season.
Bailey got some pretty cool gifts for Christmas but I have to say, I'm pretty sure her favorite part was tearing off the wrapping paper and trying to eat it. I think next year she'll be much more into her gifts and Christmas in general, but it was still so much fun to see her unwrapping her presents and enjoying the lights on the Christmas tree!
Here are some pictures from Bailey's First Christmas:

Thanksgiving 2009

We spent Thanksgiving 2009 in Wichita with the Burns family. It was great because so many family members were able to be there and share Bailey's first Thanksgiving with us. Below are some pictures from Thanksgiving weekend.

4 Month Portraits

We got Bailey's 4 month pictures taken today. She did GREAT for the photographer (as you can probably tell from the awesome pictures).

We will be including some of these pictures in the Christmas cards we send out. We are also able to order more online so if anyone is interested in doing so let us know and we can get you the login information.

First experimentation with rice cereal

On Nov. 6 we gave Bailey some rice cereal for the first time and boy was that an experience! Of course she made a big mess with it, but really she ate it well.

We made the mistake of putting a bib on her, thinking that would help keep her shirt clean. Really the bib just got in the way and made a bigger mess. We look forward to when she's more practiced and less messy eating her cereal.

Bailey's First Halloween

Bailey's first Halloween was fairly uneventful but it was still fun for us to dress her up and see her in her cute costume. This year Bailey was a pink poodle for Halloween.

On Friday the 30th I dressed Bailey in her costume and took her Trick or Treating at my work with the other kids (ok we just walked around, no candy involved). She did really well and of course everyone thought she looked adorable.

On Saturday the 31st we put her costume on her again and Bailey stayed content long enough for us to take a couple pictures, then she decided she was too hot and picture time was over. Even though she didn't wear the costume much it was so worth the purchase.
