Almost Walking!

Bailey has been walking around for over a month now, except she'll only do it if she has something to hold on to. But yesterday she started letting go of things and standing on her own for extended periods of time. It was so exciting because before yesterday she would just sit down right away if you let go of her. Her balance is really good and I know she could walk on her own now if she would just try. I think it will be any day now that she takes that first solo step. I'm so excited!!!

Bye-Bye and Crawling...sort of

A couple weeks ago Bailey finally waved bye-bye. We had been trying to get her to do it for weeks and she never seemed to care, then one night out of the blue she just started doing it. Now she'll wave bye-bye but only when she feels like it, not necessarily when you want her to.

She is also getting more skilled at "crawling." Really it's more like an army crawl because she hasn't quite mastered the true hands and knees crawling. She's getting better and better at it each day though and can easily get from one side of a room to another in a short amount of time.

Here's a video of Bailey waving bye-bye and of her early crawling days.

And now some seconds

Well it didn't take long for "baba" to turn into "dada." Bailey has officially said her second word and it's one that she now loves to say. Aaron's pretty excited about it, to say the least.

Bailey also got her second tooth. It came through on February 22nd. She now has both bottom front teeth!

A few new firsts

Bailey has recently experienced a few new firsts. We'll start with the first that we wish didn't happen.

On January 15th Bailey was admitted for her first hospital stay. She had been coughing a lot more and having trouble breathing so I took her to see her doctors at Children's Mercy. After running some tests they determined she had RSV Bronchiolitis and said she would need to stay at the hospital. It was supposed to be a 2-5 day visit but ended up lasting 18 days! Bailey was finally discharged on February 1st. Unfortunately we had to take oxygen home with us and she is still on it while she continues to get rid of the Bronchiolitis but she is doing much better now.

Something good did come of her hospital stay though. On January 29th Bailey got her first tooth! It was pretty funny the first few days after the tooth was through to watch her feeling around the bottom of her mouth with her tongue. She could tell something was different. And apparently she thought that having a tooth meant that she needed to start brushing it right away...

The most recent first is Bailey's first word. Aaron and I had argued back and forth about whether it would be "mama" or "dada" but alas, we were both wrong. It was "baba." Of course she doesn't have a clue was it means yet but she sure loves to say it!

It's a very fun and exciting time in Bailey's life right now filled with many new firsts, and we know there will be many more to come in the near future!

6 months already!

It's hard to believe that Bailey is already 6 months old. It's gone by so fast!

She is now rolling over and can sit up by herself!

She got a Disney Princess chair for Christmas and she loves it...almost as much as she loves the remote control. Every time we'd give her the remote though she would always hit random buttons and change the channel so we finally took the batteries out of an extra remote so she now has her own.

Bailey got a basketball goal for Christmas and she really likes playing with it. I think it's a sign of things to come.

She also likes to try and help me do laundry...

Every day with Bailey gets more and more fun and I can't wait to see what's in store for us in the next 6 months!

Bailey's First Christmas!

We started Christmas 2009 in Wichita with the Burns and Cunningham families. We then went to Garden City and spent the week with my family. We finished off our holiday weekend in Scott City at Aaron's sister Darlicia's house. We are very blessed that we were able to spend time with all of our families during this holiday season.
Bailey got some pretty cool gifts for Christmas but I have to say, I'm pretty sure her favorite part was tearing off the wrapping paper and trying to eat it. I think next year she'll be much more into her gifts and Christmas in general, but it was still so much fun to see her unwrapping her presents and enjoying the lights on the Christmas tree!
Here are some pictures from Bailey's First Christmas:
